President’s Message

It was great to see so many of you at the annual conference in Vancouver. This was the first SPRAT Conference to be held outside the United States, reflecting the continued international growth of our organization. Many thanks to Canadian Rope Access Specialists for hosting the conference. I feel honored to have been chosen as the new SPRAT President for 2011 and look forward to working with you as we advance the goals of our membership and promote the rope access industry.
Welcome new members! Starting this Spring, all newly certified technicians will be provided with a Subscribing Membership for a year. This will expand our membership base and expose more industry professionals to the benefits SPRAT provides. We hope many people will choose to renew their memberships and continue to be involved with SPRAT for years to come.
2011 will bring many opportunities and challenges. SPRAT certification numbers have steadily grown and we expect this trend to continue. Each year, technicians and companies in more countries are added to the list of those adopting the SPRAT certification protocols. Managing the numerical and geographic growth while maintaining high quality certification sessions is a top priority. The rope access industry continues to face regulatory challenges and SPRAT Members are working directly with regulators to ensure that standard rope access techniques continue to have a viable place in industry. The Company Audit Committee has made excellent progress in continuing the development of a Company Audit Program.
Thank you to all the people serving on committees and giving of their time to advance the interests of SPRAT and the rope access industry. On behalf of SPRAT, we wish you a safe, happy and successful 2011!

C.R.A.S. Hosts 2011 SPRAT Conference
Canadian Rope Access Specialists will be hosting the annual SPRAT Conference January 13-15, 2011
Mark your calendar for the SPRAT 2011 Annual Conference, which will be held January 13-15, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver (http://vancouver.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp) in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The conference will be hosted by Canadian Rope Access Specialists, and the program will include technical presentations of interest to rope access professionals, the 4th Annual Rope Access Olympics, Standards Committee Meetings, and the Annual Business Meeting.
The Annual Conference is the best way for you to learn more about the Society, to communicate directly with the Board of Directors, and to interact with other SPRAT Members. You don’t want to miss it!
